“Then We gave the Book to those whom We choose from among Our servants” Qudsona Endowment sponsors the closing of the Quds Competition for memorizing and reciting the Holy Quran
Jerusalem - The closing ceremony of the Jerusalem Competition for Memorizing and Reciting the Holy Qur’an - Season Six was held under the auspices of the Qudsona Endowment Foundation and the Islamic Public Endowments Administration in Jerusalem, at Al-Quds University Abu Dis, in the presence of the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Jerusalem Fund and Endowment, Munib Rashid Al-Masry, and the Vice President of Al-Quds University, Dr. Hassan Dweik, on behalf of University President Dr. Imad Abu Kishek, Deputy Director General of the Jerusalem Endowments, Director General of the Competition, Sheikh Najeh Bakirat, and a crowd of the contestants’ families.
The ceremony began with the recitation of verses from the Holy Qur’an and the playing of the Palestinian national anthem. Then Sheikh Bakirat gave a speech in which he welcomed the audience, stressing that the goal of holding the competition was to create a generation that can determine the future of the Palestinian cause, which is threatened by external and internal factors. Bakirat explained that the competition comes to respond to those who violate the Book of God, pointing out the necessity of establishing centers for memorizing the Holy Qur’an in every part of Palestine.
For his part, Dr. Hassan Dweik expressed Al-Quds University’s pride in the memorizers of the Holy Qur’an and the achievement they attained in the competition, pointing out that Al-Quds University has two colleges of the Holy Qur’an and that memorizing the Qur’an is part of the curricula of these two colleges. Dweik stressed that memorizing the Holy Qur’an gives us a great impetus to confront the occupation’s practices in Jerusalem and Al-Aqsa.
In turn, Munib Rashid Al-Masry, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al Quds Fund and Endowment, congratulated the memorizers of the Holy Quran and their families, stressing that the mission of the Jerusalem Endowment is to preserve Jerusalem institutions in addition to Jerusalemite youth and develop their skills in all aspects of life.
Al-Masry pointed to the close relationship between Qudsona Foundation and the Islamic Endowments in Jerusalem to serve the Holy City and its people, stressing the importance of this Palestinian celebration, which included Palestinian towns and cities, noting the large numbers that benefited from this activity and the necessity of supporting it. Al-Masry stressed the importance of institutions supporting religious activities for their goals, which work to create religious, Islamic and moral values among young people, noting that the Jerusalem Competition is a comprehensive competition that brings together all Palestinians and in which between 250-350 from all Palestinian cities participated. In his speech, Al-Masry touched on the meeting of the General Secretaries in Cairo at the end of this month, calling on the participants to end the division, achieve unity, and produce positive results. At the end of the ceremony, the winners of the competition were honored, which included many meaningful religious paragraphs and songs.
