In the city of Jerusalem, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah Educational and Cultural Center will be inaugurated during the current year

Jerusalem - A meeting of the Board of Trustees of the late Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah Charitable and Development Program was held in Jerusalem via video technology, with the participation of the Chairman of the Board of Trustees, His Royal Highness Prince Turki Al-Faisal, and board members Munib Rashid Al-Masri, Michel Al-Sayegh, Dr. Waleed Al-Wahib, Dr. Majed Al-Azmi, Dr. Emad Abu Kashk, and Dr. Akhilef Al-Tarawneh.

In his opening speech, Prince Turki Al-Faisal welcomed the participants, emphasising the importance of this development program in Jerusalem, which was launched in tribute to the noble spirit of Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and his honorable positions in support of the Palestinian cause and the holy city of Jerusalem. He stated that this program aims to support the people of Jerusalem and strengthen their resilience, as well as to serve as a bridge of goodness between Jerusalem and Kuwait, affirming the Arab identity of Jerusalem and our gratitude to the Prince of goodness and humanity, Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.

Al-Masri, in his speech, welcomed the participants, expressing gratitude to Prince Turki Al-Faisal for his efforts and sponsorship of this program. He affirmed the Palestinian people's appreciation for Kuwait's positions and support for Palestine throughout history, both at the official and popular levels. He described the late Sheikh Sabah as a symbol of Arabness, goodness, generosity, humanity, and dedication in defending the holy city of Jerusalem. He highlighted that Jerusalem and the Palestinian people fulfill their duty of gratitude towards a person who loved Palestine, and in return, Palestine loved him.

Dr. Abu Kashk stated that the Jerusalem Empowerment and Development Association is honored to manage the Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah Charitable Program, which serves as a serious gateway to support Jerusalem and enhance the resilience of its people. He emphasised that the program will strive to become one of the most important charitable and developmental programs that meet the needs of Jerusalem while preserving its Arab identity. He saw it as an opportunity to send a message of gratitude and appreciation to the State of Kuwait and its free people, and as a bridge of love that strengthens the bonds of goodness between the Kuwaiti and Palestinian people.

The participants reviewed the achievements of the Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah Charitable Program in Jerusalem for the year 2022 as follows:

First: Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah Educational and Cultural Endowment: This endowment was established on August 22, 2022, in Jerusalem near the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, through a donation from the Cooperation Foundation and the Jerusalem Endowment Fund. It serves as a perpetual charity for the noble soul of Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and a gift from the Palestinian people in all their spectrums. It stands as a pearl carrying the name of Kuwait on the blessed land of Palestine, and a bridge of goodness connecting the State of Palestine with the State of Kuwait, strengthening the bonds of brotherhood and love between the two peoples. The property in the Sa'diyah neighborhood in the Old City of Jerusalem was purchased and dedicated to be a school and a center for teaching the Quran, which will be inaugurated during the current year.

Second: Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah Scholarship Fund: The implementation of the scholarship project for Jerusalem students started in the second semester of the academic year 2020-2021. More than 300 male and female students benefited from the scholarships, which were provided according to the approved criteria of the Scholarship and Loan Fund for Jerusalem students in the universities of Jerusalem, Birzeit, Bethlehem, and Al-Najah.

Third: Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah Humanitarian and Relief Fund: This fund included the "Ramadan of Goodness and Empowerment" campaign, which was carried out by the Jerusalem Empowerment and Development Association.

It is important to note that the property has been placed under the management of the Public Endowments Department in the city of Jerusalem.
