Under the slogan Building today for a bright future | The General Assembly of Alquds Fund and Endowment Group holds its seventh annual meeting

The seventh general assembly meeting of Alquds Fund and Endowment Group was held on the campus of Al-Quds University/ Abu Dis, in the presence of board members and representatives of non-governmental organizations, Jerusalem committees , the National and Civil Action Committee, and a representative of the Palestinian Ministry of Interior, preceded a meeting of the Board of Directors of the Endowment.

The meeting began with a welcoming speech delivered by Prof. Imad Abu Kishk; "We welcome you to the extraordinary general meeting of the Jerusalem Fund and Endowment, the seventh regular meeting of the Fund and the Endowment, and the third of the Jerusalem Association for Empowerment and Development, the executive arm of the Fund, under the slogan "We build today for a bright future."

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of Alquds fund and Endowment, Munib R. Masri, gave an opening speech, stressing the importance of the presence of the members of the General Assembly at a time when the Palestinian cause is going through its most difficult times, expressing his hope to overcome the difficulties facing the Palestinians and to come up with ideas and decisions in a manner that serves to support the steadfastness of the Jerusalemite citizens

After ensuring the completion of the legal quorum for the General Assembly, the General Assembly approved the agenda of the extraordinary meeting, which included one item related to the amendment of Article No. 6 of the Fund’s statute and the endowment related to the transfer of the powers of the General Assembly to the Board of Trustees in line with the vision of the Foundation to be a fund and endowment Al-Quds is an institution specialized in resource mobilization, consisting of a board of trustees and a board of directors only, while the Jerusalem Association for Empowerment and Development specializes in implementing projects, and this is in accordance with the vision of the transformation of the Fund and Endowment Group in a manner that guarantees the independence of each of the group’s institutions and builds graceful and efficient institutions.

The participants approved the minutes of the regular general meeting of the Fund, the Endowment and the Jerusalem Association for Empowerment and Development for the past year.

Then, the Executive Director of the Jerusalem Endowment Fund, Taher Al-Dissi, presented the two administrative reports of the Endowment Fund and the Jerusalem Association for Empowerment and Development, and they were approved.

Al-Dissi talked about the most prominent stations of the development projects implemented by Al-Quds Fund and Endowment:

First, the establishment and implementation of Alquds Fund and Empowerment to spend on development projects at a rate of 6-7 million dollars annually. The first meeting of the Administrative Committee will be held next Monday.

He referred to the second achievement, which is Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah's development initiative, which was launched in fulfillment of his spirit and the auspice of the State of Kuwait, explaining that the initiative has so far spent one million and 700 thousand dollars in 2021.

He pointed to the third achievement, which is raising the efficiency of the Al-Quds Association for Empowerment and Development to be an executive institution and adopting the computerized system program into implementation, adding that the fourth stage was obtaining the Excellence Award in Financial Sustainability from the Forum of Donor Institutions in the Islamic World.

Al-Dissi talked about the endowment’s development vision, which includes two tracks. The first track is building infrastructure to implement projects with high accuracy and professionalism, which was achieved through the Jerusalem Association for Empowerment and Development, adding that the second track is building infrastructure to mobilize financial resources in a more efficient manner for the city of Jerusalem.

About the data of the 2020 harvest, he said, "The Jerusalem Endowment dealt with 1,300 requests at the level of scholarships, loans, and home repairs, in addition to development projects and relief campaigns launched by the (Madad platform) in partnership with the Jerusalem Governorate to confront the Corona pandemic."

The participants approved the financial reports of Al Quds Fund and Endowment presented by Jamal Melhem, representative of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization and the Jerusalem Association for Empowerment and Development, submitted by Peter Al-Hosari, representative of Quality Audit.

The meeting, which began with the national anthem and the reading of Al-Fatihah for the souls of the martyrs, featured a presentation of the future vision of the Alquds Fund and Endowment Group, as well as a video tape that included the endowment’s achievements and projects.
